First Exhibition Game
The Kingston Frontenacs dropped their second game to the Oshawa Generals in as many nights, as the Gens edged the Fronts 3-2 in overtime before a boistorous crowd in Oshawa.
The game was a chippy game right from the get go with a couple of fights and several big body checks. The intensity level was turned up and the game had a playoff feel to it on the ice.
Kingston opened the scoring early in the first period when Joe Pleckaitis beat Oshawa goaltender Kevin Bailie which would hold up as the loan goal of the period.
The Generals finally responded with the equalizer midway through the second period when Connor Stokes beat Tyler Beskorowany in the Kingston net from a wide angle through a screen. Kingston thought they had gone on top late in the period when Pleckaitis stormed in on the wing to create a partiail breakaway and he snapped it off the post and crossbar. The goal light went on and the play went under review but the ruling came back as no goal. The Fronts didn't sit around feeling sorry for themselves as under two minutes later Kaine Geldart made a nifty little move to find Taylor Doherty going to the net and Doherty beat Bailie between the legs, to give the Fronts a 2-1 lead after two periods.
The game remained that way until midway through the period when J.P Labardo jumped on a broken play off the rush and beat and down and out Beskorowany and setup overtime.
The TV truck used to broadcast the game in Oshawa blew a transformer with under six minutes to play and people watching at home were left in the dark for the remainder of the game.
Beskowoany made a magnificent breakaway save on Christian Thomas in the extra frame and despite a steller night in net by Besko, it was Thomas who would get the last laugh, picking up a puck behind the net and wrapping it in between the legs of Beskorowany, giving the Generals the big 3-2 win.
