Frontenacs To Honour Billet Families Prior to the Game
The Kingston Frontenacs dropped their second game in a row, after a four game winning streak, as the Plymouth Whalers knocked the Fronts off by a score of 4-1. "We didn't work hard enough and didn't compete hard enough to win today," said Head Coach Doug Gilmour.
The Fronts actually opened the scoring in the first period, when Chalres Sarault notched his first of the season, when he took a pass from Corey Durocher in the slot and snapped a quick shot past Matt Hackett in the Whalers net to give the Fronts the 1-0 lead. The Whalers would get that back a short while later and they broke in on a 2 on 1 and former Front Josh Brittan got a quick shot off that fooled Frontenacs goaltender Tyler Beskorowany and bounced off his glove and up and over him barely crossing the goal-line to send the two teams to the dressing room tied at one after the opening period.
The second period appeared destined to be a scorless period, until the Whalers jumped on a late turnover and Myles McCauley converted that into a goal to give them a 2-1 lead heading to the third period. In the third, Plymouth put the game out of reach as Austin Levi and Ryan Hayes each scored goals and Hackett made two huge saves on Nathan Moon and Erik Gudbranson and the Whalers were able to end their two game slide with the 4-1 win over the Fronts.
The Fronts will now head on the road for three games next weekend as they head to Saginaw, Plymouth and Windsor, where they will look to regroup and get back on the winning track.
