Kingston Frontenacs NHL draft prospect Ryan Kujawinski was one of 40 top prospects who competed in the home hardware Top Prospects game before a Halifax Metro Centre crowd of 10,595.

Kujawinski played for Team Cherry for CBC Hockey Icon Don Cherry but they fell 3-0 in the game to Team Orr. Kujawinski did not score or register a point in the game, but played well and was not on the ice for any goals against.

Laurent Dauphin had two points in the win and Spencer Martin stopped all 16 shots fired his way as he and Philippe Desrosiers picked up the shut-out.

The game is unlike any other all-star showcase, as the intensity is always high for players looking to impress NHL scouts. The game’s intensity went up a notch after a scuffle behind the net between Plymouth Whalers forward Ryan Hartman and Kerby Rychel of the Windsor Spitfires erupted into a fight — the first of two scraps in the game.

“I’ve been here 14 years and that first period is the best period I’ve ever seen,” Don Cherry said. “Boy, you can see this game is not an all-star game. There was more hitting tonight than you’ll see in 10 NHL games.”
