The Canadian under-18 team finished 2-0 in pre-world championship competition after a 5-4 overtime win over the host Czech Republic on Monday.

Frontenacs coach Todd Gill is an assistant coach for the team. Fronts defenceman Warren Steele also is on the team.

Canada opens the tournament on Thursday against Denmark.

Meanwhile, Kingston's Jayna Hefford and the Canadian women's team return to world championship action on Tuesday afternoon against Russia in Burlington, Vt. Canada is 1-1.
