The Kingston Frontenacs

It's Better Live!

Justin Morrison

Justin MorrisonHere’s a look at one of the most beloved and charismatic players in franchise history, the colorful Justin Morrison.  To this date, Morrison is the last OHL player to record over 100 points and over 200 penalty minutes in one season, after his stellar 1990-91 campaign, in which the then 19 year old Morrison recorded 101 points and 222 penalty minutes. In his four seasons with the Kingston franchise, Morrison played in 193 games, amassing 102 goals, 131 assists and 587 penalty minutes. Morrison is Kingston’s 13th all time leading point producer and fifth all time penalty minute leader.

Today the former fourth round pick of the Washington Capitals is an industrial plumber, who had been working in the oilfields of Alberta, but recently relocated to Pickering, Ontario where he took a job at the water treatment plant. The move back to Ontario, allowed Morrison to be closer to his beautiful 11 year old daughter Hannah, who lives in Kingston with her mom Lorena. “I love her to death” said Morrison.

Current Frontenacs General Manager Larry Mavety is Morrison’s favorite coach, coaching the feisty winger in both Kingston and Belleville. “Mav was definitely my favorite coach. He cares a lot about his players and would do anything to try and help you out. He taught me a lot and I’m proud to have played for him.”

“Playing in Kingston was a tremendous time in my life. Just being a young man in the city and realizing what a beautiful town it is, is something I’ll never forget,” said Morrison. “My favorite hockey memory would have to be when I jumped into the Oshawa bench for a reason I’ll keep to myself for the time being….. hahaha” However, it was that kind of emotion that endeared Morrision with the Kingston hockey fans. “He played the game with passion and when you watched him play, you knew he left it all on the ice.” “He was afraid of no one and scored a lot of goals by paying the price in front of the net,” were just some of the responses from the Kingston fans, when asked to comment on their memories of #13, Justin Morrison.

BEST HOCKEY ADVICE:

Love your teammates and also to love the super billets that the team provides, just like Larry and Janice Moran, who treated me like family during my years in Kingston.
