The Frontenacs defeated the Barrie Colts 6-3 in their third game at the K-Rock Centre Friday evening. The Frontenacs entertained the crowd of 4005 in attendance. Kingston defenseman Zack Fenwick opened the scoring at 3:57 of the first period on a wrist shot assisted by Justin Wallingford and Nathan Moon. Colts forward Ryan Berard tied the game 10 minutes later on the powerplay beating goaltender John Murray. Jesse Brown gave Kingston the lead again before the end of the first period. Early in the second period, Justin Wallingford beat Barrie goalie Peter Di Salvo on a slap shot from centre ice. Di Salvo wasn't expecting the shot and was clearly unhappy with the goal. This goal seemed to give the Frontenacs more momentum as James Marsden and Nathan Moon also scored for Kingston. They went into the 2nd intermission with a 5-1 lead.
Barrie attempted a comeback when Tomas Marcinko scored just 22 seconds into the third period. It would not be enough though as Matthew Kang scored his 26th goal of the season a few minutes later. Barrie added one more goal but Kingston held on for the 6-3 win. Final shots for the evening were Barrie 37 and Kingston 32. The Frontenacs swept the three stars: 3 - Stephen Francella, 2 - Justin Wallingford, 1 - Nathan Moon. Also adding two points and earning the hardest working player was #2 Peter Stevens. The Frontenacs return to action on Sunday afternoon when they host the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors. Game time is 2:00pm and tickets are available for purchase at the K-Rock Centre box office. Fans who purchase a ticket for this game can purchase a ticket for the Frontenacs rescheduled game against the Oshawa Generals on March 11th.
