Frontenacs host Kettle Launch

The Kingston Frontenacs kicked off the Salvation Army Kettle Launch at the Kingston Memorial Centre on Friday evening against the Sarnia Sting. The 2007 campaign was officially launched with a goal of raising $178,000 to support Christmas and year-round programming. Cory Emmerton made the first official donation on behalf of the Frontenacs to get the campaign started.

Players from the Salvation Army Novice team were on hand to participate in the ceremonial faceoff. Team representative Jacob Tobin was chosen to drop the puck on behalf of the team.
“The Salvation Army is thrilled with the ongoing partnership we enjoy with the Frontenacs,” says Major Gary Brown, spokesman for the Salvation Army. “This is an example of the community support that the Salvation Army needs as we offer hope to the city’s most vulnerable citizens.”
In addition to the pre-game ceremonies, the Salvation Army Novice team competed during the second intermission doing a great job of entertaining the fans. It was a scoreless tie between the two novice opponents, but the players, parents, and the fans all enjoyed the kids competing at ice level.
