Fronts defeat Petes

In the first matinee game in the brand new K-Rock Centre the Kingston Frontenacs defeated the Peterborough Petes in an exciting 7-4 game. The Frontenacs jumped to an early lead and never looked back on this afternoon. A spirited fight in the first period saw defenseman Peter Stevens face Peterborough overager Bobby Davey. The fight really energized the Frontenacs. Holding a 5-1 lead after the first period the Frontenacs went into the dressing room with a good feeling.

In the second period Peterborough began to make a comeback on goals from Branislav Rehus and Jake Laplante. They eventually closed the gap to 5-4 before Frontenacs rearguard Justin Wallingford found the back of the net for the insurance marker making it 6-4. An eventual empty net goal by all-star Nathan Moon put the Petes away.

Special teams played a key role for the afternoon as Kingston went 4 for 6 on the poweplay. Earning first star honors and having a big afternoon was forward Bobby Mignardi who found the scoresheet twice and added 3 assists. Kyle Paige also continued his hot play adding 2 goals and 2 assists. This afternoon also marked the first win in the K-Rock Centre for the Frontenacs. The team now travels on the road for a Wednesday evening game against the Saginaw Spirit. Game time is 7:11pm and can be heard on the radio on Lite 104.3 FM. The team returns home next Friday against the Barrie Colts. Tickets can be purchased online or by visiting the K-Rock Centre box office.
