Selected: Kingston Frontenacs's 1st round pick, 4th overall.
Erik Gudbranson
ErikLevel: Min. Midget-ON
Team: Ottawa Jr 67's

Position: RD

Shoots: Right

Height: 6.03

Weight: 190

Birthdate: 01/07/1992

Statistics: 70GP, 15G, 40A, 55P, 118PIMS

Scouting Report:
The top defenceman available in this years OHL priority selection took no time at all to leave an impression on OHL fans as his interview via the draft telecast following his selection to the Frontenacs at 4th overall was one of the most inspiring, mature displays any young man has displayed. Aside from his excellent character he's quite the hockey player as well. Gudbranson is a large physical specimen on the back end that uses his size to out muscle opponents and gain possession of the puck with ease. His skating for a 16 year old defenceman is well above average and he is quite mobile east to west. His physical prowess coupled with his solid offensive instincts make him a perfect fit for the Frontenacs blue-line. It may be much to early to pass judgement, but when all is said and done and the 2008 Priority Selection crop have moved on with their respective careers, Gudbranson may turn out to be the top player taken in this draft.

Selected: Kingston Frontenacs's 2nd round pick, 24th overall.
Tyler Mort

TylerLevel: Min. Midget-ON
Team: York Simcoe Express
Position: RD
Shoots: Right
Height: 6.01
Weight: 185
Birthdate: 03/01/1992
Statistics: 49GP, 10G, 26A, 36P, 60PIMS
Scouting: Mort makes his living by playing a robust, aggressive style that features him as a future top pairing shut down defenceman at the OHL level. At 6"1 185 his possesses great size for his position and he uses every pound he has while punishing opponents. Apart from these excellent defensive qualities Mort really improved his decision making with the puck throughout the year and looks to have solid offensive upside. Mort played with minor hockey with the York-Simcoe express 1992s, who were always a contender at the provincial level. Mort is just what the Frontenacs need, a winner who is willing to do whatever it takes to win.

Selected: Kingston Frontenacs's 2nd round pick, 35th overall.
Charles Sarault

CharlesLevel: Min. Midget-ON
Team: Jr. Canadiens
Position: LC
Shoots: Left
Height: 5.10
Weight: 165
Birthdate: 02/20/1992
Statistics: 84GP, 32G, 59A, 91P, 77PIMS
Scouting: Consistency and committed are two terms that describe this 16 year old product of the storied Jr. Canadians of the GTHL. Sarault does not really have a weak part of his game and this is what makes him such a solid prospect. Sarault has a smooth skating style with good speed. He can contribute offensively as well as maintaining excellent positioning in defensive coverage. He is one of the most polished prospects in this draft. Sarault has shown that he has good hands and is also a good distributor of the puck. He was slightly overshadowed this year playing with so many high profile players on the Jr. Canadians including #1 pick John McPharland, Sarault strived in every situation this year and earned his second round selection.

Selected: Kingston Frontenacs's 3rd round pick, 45th overall.
Derek Froats

DerekLevel: Min. Midget-ON
Team: Toronto Red Wings
Position: LW
Shoots: Left
Height: 5.11
Weight: 165
Birthdate: 05/21/1992
Statistics: 47GP, 18G, 30A, 48P, 34PIMS
Scouting Report: This Toronto Red Wings power forward went from a relatively unknown at this beginning of his minor midget season for us to being one of the bright spots of the 2008 season. His play throughout the year at a consistent level is what brought the Fronts to select him in the third round. Froats is a highly competitive player who possesses great strength, speed and acceleration. He is a good goal scorer that also makes solid passes and if he continues to grow and develop as a player at this rate he projects to be a very good two way OHL forward.

Selected: Kingston Frontenacs's 4th round pick, 77th overall.
Stephan Herrington

PNALevel: Midget-ON
Team: Sudbury Nickel Capitals
Position: LC
Shoots: Left
Height: 5.11
Weight: 165
Birthdate: 08/11/1991
Statistics: 45GP, 43G, 61A, 104P, 80PIMS
Scouting Report: The Frontenacs may have got the steal of the draft with Stephan Herrington of the Midget National Champion Sudbury Nickel Capitals. At the 77th pick many were surprised to see Herrington still around as he exposed the GNML with 104pts in 45 games. He is very skilled forward with room to grow. Herrington combines top sniper capabilities with better than average vision from the pivot spot. Look for Herrington to challenge for a roster spot this fall.

Selected: Kingston Frontenacs's 5th round pick, 94th overall.
Brock Higgs

BrockLevel: Min. Midget-ON
Team: Greater Kingston
Position: LC
Shoots: Left
Height: 5.09
Weight: 160
Birthdate: 05/04/1992
Statistics: 53GP, 48G 38A 86P, 70PIM
Scouting Report: One of the more underrated players in the omha this past season. Standing at only five foot nine many questioned his size going into the OHL draft. Higgs has exceptional acceleration and a knack for scoring goals. He is a great team player who has enough savvy and skill to be counted on in crucial situations. A year in tier II will be a perfect avenue for his development as a player.

Selected: Kingston Frontenacs's 6th round pick, 105th overall.
Luke Laidlaw
PNALevel: Min. Midget-ON
Team: Toronto Red Wings
Position: LC
Shoots: Left
Height: 5.11
Weight: 160
Birthdate: 03/23/1992
Statistics: 40GP, 14G, 26A, 40P, 68PIMS

Scouting Report: A standout player who is a product of the Toronto Red Wings minor hockey system. He is a player who shows a great mixture of skill and toughness, while being a big-time competitor come crunch time. Laidlaws draft stock dropped quite a bit throughout the year and this was not due to his play on the ice. Laidlaw and the red wings cut ties during the season and this led to teams passing on the talented forward in earlier rounds. The fronts see no problem with Laidlaw and they are quite excited to have him in their stable of prospects.
